The most beautiful walks of autumn
November 10, 2025
Luxembourg is a unique country in more ways than one. Between urban wealth and wild nature, there are countless opportunities for walks and hikes. You can explore Luxembourg on foot in all seasons, but autumn has that little something extra: flamboyant landscapes, leaves crunching underfoot, nature gradually falling asleep as winter approaches...
Autumn is the perfect season to put on your boots and get away from it all, whether alone or in a group, in the city or on wilder trails. Let us take you on a journey along the country's most beautiful hiking trails!
Family walks (1 to 5 kilometers)
- In Differdange, the magical trail “Mäerchenwee”
Here is a 1 km loop, accessible with a stroller, which is easy to complete with your children, both young and old. Along the way, you can admire wooden sculptures of fairy tale characters and forest animals.
- In Hosingen: “Through the woods with Robi”
Covering a distance of approximately 3 km, this walking trail invites parents and children to follow Robi the elf through the forest. Balance games, interactive discoveries, and enchanting autumn nature: a perfect walk for explorers of all ages.
- The “comfort” hiking trails located in Bissen, Remich, Echternach, and Grenvenmacher
Easily accessible to strollers and wheelchairs, these trails (3 to 4 km long) are dotted with benches where you can rest. They are ideal for enjoying a peaceful outdoor outing with the whole family.
- “In the footsteps of Charly” between Echternach and Luxembourg
This 5.5 km trail runs alongside the old “Charly” railway line. Fun and full of discoveries, it will appeal to children who are a little more experienced at walking (allow about 1.5 hours). Please note that this trail is not suitable for strollers.
Urban walks
Did you know that the City of Luxembourg has three forests? These green spaces offer numerous trails dotted with benches and picnic tables, where you can enjoy a break. The trails are accessible to walkers and joggers, who can enjoy the autumn colors of nature, not far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
For a more cultural exploration of the capital, still on foot, this 6.5 km route starts at the Gëlle Fra statue (Constitution Square) and takes you to the Petrusse Valley and the mouth of the Alzette River, offering breathtaking views of the city illuminated by the soft autumn light.
The UNESCO Promenade, approximately 3.5 km long, allows you to discover the capital from a different perspective and takes you to the city's ancient fortifications and old quarters, a combination of nature and monumental architecture, listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
Walking works up an appetite! If you decide to end your walk with a stop at a restaurant, don't hesitate to visit one of the many establishments that accept the Pluxee card!
Hiking in the great outdoors
For seasoned hikers, Luxembourg in autumn is a dream destination for indulging in your passion!
This network of 112 km of marked trails is a must for lovers of hiking. It allows you to discover the wonderful “Little Luxembourg Switzerland” and its spectacular rock formations. A total immersion in the heart of a natural landscape worthy of a postcard!
- The Guttland.Trails
Less well known but just as beautiful, these trails in the center of the country offer breathtaking views. The Fox Trail (Fuussepad), for example, takes you through forests and fields to one of the country's greatest historical sites: a Roman temple dating back to the 1st century.
