OneLife Luxembourg: How Pluxee meal vouchers have strengthened the employee experience for 25 Years
In an increasingly competitive Luxembourg labour market, companies are looking for concrete ways to attract, retain and engage their talent. Employee benefits, and meal vouchers in particular, play a key role in this equation, both for the perceived value they bring to employees and for the tax optimisation advantages they offer employers.
OneLife, a life insurance company operating in Luxembourg and Belgium, understood this early on. Since 1999, the company has trusted Pluxee, formerly Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services, to provide meal vouchers to its 180 employees. A partnership that goes far beyond a simple client-provider relationship, and one that reflects the core values of an organisation deeply committed to lasting, meaningful connections.
We sat down with Sophie ICHER, OneLife's Chief Human Resources Officer, an executive committee member and driver of the group's HR strategy, to understand what makes this long-standing partnership so valuable.
Could you introduce OneLife and your role within the company?
I am Chief Human Resources Officer at OneLife, a life insurance company based in Luxembourg and Belgium with approximately 180 employees. The OneLife Company is part of the APICIL Group, a major player in personal protection and wealth management in France.
As a member of the executive committee, I am responsible for deploying the HR strategy, with a particular focus on talent development, management support, and the continuous improvement of the employee experience.
I have the privilege of being supported by a team of four people within the HR department.
Your partnership with Pluxee dates back to 1999. How did it begin and how has it evolved over the years?
We have been working with Pluxee since 1999, back when it was still Sodexo. This is therefore a collaboration that has stood the test of time and evolved alongside our company. This commitment to long-term relationships is also reflected in our teams, with some employees having more than 25 years of tenure, a testament to our attachment to building solid, lasting connections.
What were your HR challenges before implementing meal vouchers, and what drove you to take the step?
Implementing meal vouchers came about quite naturally, driven by a desire to strengthen our employer brand and offer a tangible, valued benefit to our employees.
It was also a lever to meet their expectations around purchasing power, while remaining within a fiscally optimised framework.
Why did you choose Pluxee over other providers? What were the deciding factors?
From the very beginning, our ambition was to work with a solid, dependable partner. The choice of Pluxee was therefore a natural one, with a very strong market positioning and a client-focused approach that suited us then and continues to suit us today.
What concrete benefits do you draw from this partnership today?
Today, beyond the solution itself, it is really the quality of the relationship that makes the difference. Working with a reliable, structured market leader is a key element in this long-term partnership dynamic. Pluxee is a partner that shares values close to our own , and more broadly, to those of the APICIL Group, with a genuine focus on client care.
Concretely, we feel supported, listened to and valued. Pluxee has been able to adapt to OneLife's evolution over the years, demonstrating responsiveness and always adjusting their solutions to our needs.
Why meal vouchers are an essential HR tool in Luxembourg
OneLife's testimonial reflects a reality shared by many Luxembourg-based companies: meal vouchers are far more than a minor perk. They sit at the intersection of three major strategic priorities:
1. Employer Branding: In a country where competition for talent is fierce, offering tangible benefits like meal vouchers strengthens a company's appeal to both current and prospective employees.
2. Purchasing Power: As the cost-of-living rises, employees increasingly expect benefits that make a real difference to their daily lives. Meal vouchers directly address this expectation.
3. Tax Efficiency: In Luxembourg, meal vouchers benefit from a favourable tax treatment, making them an effective tool for both the employer and the employee: a genuine win-win.
